So, what can you do about this? Here are some tips.
Assume all links are potentially unsafe. Just because it looks as though your friend has posted something to the wall you do not make it legal. Make sure that the context is appropriate and that sounds like something a friend would say. If you are in doubt contact them through other channels to check it out.
Does not depend on Twitter. Twitter states that all content is the abbreviation for malware, this does not mean that they can eliminate any suspicious events. The shortened or URL used to twitter can be easily redirected to malicious sites and Twitter can not protect you against this.

Install anti-spyware. Keeping your anti-spyware software up-to-date to maximize your protection so you must ensure that the updates are installed automatically. Most software manufacturers recommend this action and an update will occur at least every day.

Do not trust e-mail social networks. Do not assume that e-mail message from Twitter or Facebook or other social networking sites safely. Hackers use sophisticated spoofing method to cover up their true intentions and links contained in e-mails are potentially deadly. Always go to social networking sites themselves to check whether the contents of the e-mail is legitimate.
